What is it? Reiki (pronounced "ray key"), is a Japanese technique - a spiritual healing art, the practice of transmitting energy through the hands.  It is based on an ancient system of healing dating back centuries. The Japanese word "Reiki" is comprised of two words, "Rei" means (universal life force), and "ki" means (energy).

Do I have to  believe in anything in order to receive? - Since Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not based on any faith, religion, belief, or suggestion. There is nothing an individual needs to believe in order to receive, learn, or use Reiki.

What happens during a session? - When receiving a Reiki treatment, the client will remain fully clothed, (comfortable, loose clothing is recommended), while lying on a massage table or seated in a chair. Practitioners seek to provide a relaxing environment for their clients, which may consist of peaceful background music or complete silence during the session, and softened lighting in the room.  The Reiki treatment proceeds with the practitioner placing their hands on or slightly above the recipient's body.  The hand positions give a general coverage of the head, the front and back of the torso, knees, and feet. 

What does it feel like to have a Reiki treatment? - Reiki is a gentle, yet simple, light touch "laying on hands" technique. There is no pressure, manipulation, or massage.  During the session, the client may feel warmth, coolness, or tingling sensation in the area bring treated or other locations within the body.  It varies as each individual has their own unique experience.  Sometimes the recipient may not feel any sensations at all.  Most clients after their first session feel a sense of greater peace and found the experience very relaxing.

How long does a session last? - A session can be 30, 60, or 90 minutes, depending on the needs of the client.

Does Reiki work with other medical or therapeutic techniques? - Reiki works well in conjunction with all medical or therapeutic techniques as a complementary therapy.
